In a move many have deemed senseless and unpatriotic, Nike has decided to cancel a line of shoes because it contained the image of the American flag. Although Nike claimed the shoe would offend and detract from the Fourth of July, this is simply another example of political sensitivity going too far.

Missouri Congressman to Present Medals to Late Veteran’s Family on Fourth of July.
Deck Hall earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Combat Infantry Badge during his military service, but never received his medals.
His family reached out to Congressman Smith’s office, and they were able to obtain the medals. Congressman Smith presented Mr. Hall’s medals to family and friends at the Dent County Courthouse on July 4th.
Missouri Rep. Jason Smith, Colleagues Introduce ‘Rural Jobs Act’ to fight rural poverty, create jobs.
In order to stimulate the rural economy, Congressman Smith introduced the Rural Jobs Act that would bring hundreds of millions of dollars in private investment to some of the poorest communities in America. This act would build on the New Market Tax Credit that has prompted $42 billion in private investment and over 1 million jobs since 2000. Unfortunately, less than a quarter of those jobs have been in rural communities showcasing the need for renewed investment in rural America.

Smith Fights for All Methods of Feral Hog Eradication in Mark Twain.
Congressman Smith is fighting to pass measures to enable an easier eradication of feral hogs. Feral hogs cause billions of dollars of damage yearly across America, making easy extermination of these hogs a necessity for many rural communities plagued by their presence. Congressman Smith supports deregulating the laws around killing these hogs in the Mark Twain National forest that have been a blight to farmers in Missouri and made the difficult task of farming even harder.
U.S. Rep. Jason Smith: Overcrowded Detention Centers, Overwhelmed Agents on the Southern Border.
Congressman Smith visited Detention Centers in McAllen,Texas to better understand the crisis going on at our southern border. Traveling to the busiest of all border sectors, the delegation witnessed a large drug bust. Unfortunately, that is the daily reality for border agents tasked who must deal with the deadly cartels and overcrowded detention centers. Over 144,000 were detained in May 2019, the largest total in 13 years, further emphasizing the need for securing our borders.

Rep. Smith Fires Up Family Business Estate Tax Coalition.
As a seventh-generation Missourian, Congressman Smith understands rural America and the challenges they face. Rural America remains the breadbasket of our country and powers a large sect of our economy. Newer members of Congress who don’t have that same background may not understand these issues and how to best work with these communities. In the Ways and Means Committee, Congressman Smith worked to educate other members of Congress on farming and the tax burden farmers take on.
Missouri Congressman in D.C. Thinks Ending Tax Credit Would Pay for the Wall.
Unnecessary tax breaks continue to be shelled out to those who least need them. A $7,500 tax break given to those who buy electric cars won’t help many in southeast Missouri. Ending this excessive tax break that’s totaled around $5 billion would give us enough to pay for the Wall, benefitting all Americans rather than an exclusive few.
Smith Speaks on Need for Tighter Boarder Security.
The need for a more secure border is more pressing than ever. Border agents are overwhelmed and frequently draw the ire of the left. Their brave service was highlighted recently when a record 254 pounds of fentanyl was recovered in a drug bust in Arizona. Listen to Congressman Smith speak on it here.
House passes Smith’s legislation to fight the opioid epidemic
Three Rivers Publishing, October 10, 2018
Too many Missouri families have felt the heartache of the loss of a loved one or friend to opioid addiction. The epidemic has ravaged homes and small communities and left children without parents and parents without their children. There are many things we need to do from furthering tightening the flow of goods across our borders to continuing to give law enforcement at the borders and in our towns the resources they need to fight this outbreak of opioid abuse in the U.S. One area I have focused on is where most patients are first exposed to opioids and the setting where they are often left with unused medications, surgery. I recently authored and had President Trump sign into law the Perioperative Reduction of Opioids (PRO) Act which will reduce patients exposure to unnecessary opioids post surgery, look at alternative forms of rehabilitation, and give patients and information they need on how to safely dispose of leftover opioids when they are no longer needed. We have a long way to go in this fight, but I am hopeful my legislation can be one small step towards getting our county on the winning side of this battle.

Congressman Jason Smith Holds Farmhall in Scott County
Show Me Times, August 7, 2018
As a 4th generation family farm owner myself, I love meeting with the farmers and families of southern Missouri. In August I visited 30 different agricultural operations in 30 different counties. We truly have the most diverse agricultural district found anywhere in the country. I was honored to be able to host several “Farm-hall” type meetings – open forums with Missouri farmers to hear about the latest challenges they are facing and ways I can help. It was during these visits a few years ago that I started a running list of the devastating and intrusive impact Washington regulations written by un-elected bureaucrats were having on Missouri farmers. Before he even took office, I shared that list with President Trump and his team. Together President Trump and I have now repealed over 1000 burdensome regulations with lifetime costs in excess of $33 billion. Our work is just getting started.

I’m incredibly grateful to the people of southern Missouri for giving me the privilege of continuing to fight for them in Washington. Serving as our voice in the United States Congress has – and always will be – my highest honor. As a 7th generation Missourian I take great pride in fighting to preserve the values, beliefs, and ways of life we all hold dear.
Americans rightfully expect Congress to come together and find solutions to reversing the sharpest rise in cost of living in 40 years, to help lower gas prices, and secure our border. I’m ready for the important work which lies ahead to restore our country’s standing, to enact policies which make our economy strong, to make our communities secure, to restore freedom as the central pillar of our country, and to make sure government is held accountable. ... We the people want term limits
Time for Kevin McCarthy and McConnell to go. I don’t believe anything significant can be done as long as they are the leaders. The democrats and their policies are horrible for this country. Republicans need to quit playing defense and go on offense.
I hope you are ready to reach across the aisle. Obstructing legislation makes it impossible to get anything done. I also hope you have solutions and not finger pointing. The whining and pointing fingers is so degrading for you.
Can you please start pushing for term limits and start focusing on getting manufacturing back to where it was pre nafta in the 8th district?
Thank you…. I know how hard that job must be…
Congratulations!! We miss you!!
Thank you, Jason for all you have done and continue to do...from a 9th generation American from Southeast Missouri!

We have been waiting for the last six years for you to work across the aisle....never happened plus you have tried to destroy the values, beliefs, and way of life we hold dear.
Congratulations… I see political gerrymandering worked out well for you AGAIN!!!! I pray you do better than you have in the past. Thank goodness Biden pass the infrastructure bill. Now you will have the money to fix our bridges and roads that you have not been able to fix in all the years you have represented us.
We need new leadership. It is time for Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell to step aside.
So Jason Smith, does this mean we will finally get NEW leadership???
Do you support term limits
Got to get the food prices down milk 6.22 a gallon is crazy
Great. Now start doing something to lower our taxes.

Red tsunami. Interesting there was a blood moon lunar eclipse this morning it was a sign
The process used in the electoral college also needs to be applied to state levels. This way the bigger cities like St. Louis and Kansas City don't get to rule the roost in their states. Please pass this along to everyone you know. We need to email and call all of our representatives, congressmen, and senators. We need to corner them when we see them. We need to plaster this all over their social media outlets. Please get the word out.
Well, this post didn't age well 🤣🤣
Voted all red!!!
Best of luck today from the Dements ! 🇺🇸
Congratulations Jason!

Missouri has been under Republican rule for 2 decades and the majority of rural MO voters vote against themselves time after time. It's maddening to watch. Jason Smith is not for the people of this state and I don't remember a time that he ever was.
He got my vote a long time ago
You have my vote!
support the FDA Modernization Act 2.0 (S.5002), to utilize modern advances in science and technology

3/ Harris doubled down on his radical position, encouraging her supporters to help bail out the criminals.
Our nation needs Donald Trump more than ever to avoid the disaster the Left is promising us.
2/ While Harris helped create the southern border disaster as border czar, Walz was busy creating a sanctuary state and allowing BLM rioters to burn Minnesota communities during their riots.
1/ Today, Kamala Harris doubled down on her radical Left vision for our country by picking Tim Walz for her Vice Presidential nominee.
